JMB Pre-registration status of products
We have set up this page so that you can check the pre-registration status of the products we supply. Please note that you need to have Java installed and have given permission for java applets to run in order to access this information!

The table below has entries for all our main products, giving the following information:

Product group
Product name
EINECS number(s)
CAS Registry number(s)
Pre-registration information : date of pre-registration and submission number. We can, of course, advise the 20+ character full reference number on request.
Comments

The table can be sorted (in either A..Z or Z..A order) on any field by clicking on the relevant column header. The abbreviation "**OR**" indicates that the material is question has also been pre-registered by the non-EU manufacturer using an EU-based "only representative" for REACH purposes. Materials labelled "PREP" are preparations (ie mixtures) and do not have a single CAS or EINECS number.
NOTES

1. All commercial "stearates" are manufactured using long-chain fatty acids of natural origin - in JMB's case, exclusively from the oil-palm - and are therefore mixtures. In our case, the stearate and palmitate are present in approximately equal proportions and, under REACH, each component would have to be pre-registered (and, later, registered) separately.

In the case of calcium and magnesium "stearates", these are now exempt from REACH registration obligations as annexes IV and V of REACH were updated in October 2008 and annex V now contains an entry excluding "fatty acids from C6 to C24 and their potassium, sodium, calcium and
magnesium salts".

Zinc "stearate" is not excluded in the annex V exclusion and we have therefore normal registration obligations for it. We have pre-registered it under the single EINECS entry "fatty acids, C16-18, zinc salts".

2. Although the normal CAS Registry number for ultramarine blue (57455-37-5) was included in the original ECOIN core inventory - and should therefore have been automatically included in EINECS, this does not appear to have happened.

It appears that, as far as EINECS is concerned, the correct CAS number for this material is 101357-30-6, which corresponds to EINECS number 309-928-3 with the description "silicic acid, aluminum sodium salt, sulphurised" which does appear correct for ultramarine blue. This is the entry which we have used for ultramarine blue
pre-registration.

3. There are two entries in EINECS for cadmium carbonate (with different associated CAS Registry Numbers) - one for "cadmium carbonate" and another for "carbonic acid, cadmium salt" - we have pre-registered both for safety's sake. Eventual full registration will follow but only under one EINECS / CAS number.
