THREETEX OPTICAL BRIGHTENER
JMB is pleased to offer Threetex optical brightener (CI Optical Brightener 184) to the UK plastics industry for use in a wide variety of materials including polyolefins, polystyrenes and PVC.

These plastics can often appear pale orange-yellow in sunlight because of absorption of the blue-violet wavelength radiation by impurities and relatively strong reflection of the orange-yellow range. When a small amount of optical brightener is used, the incident UV radiation is absorbed and re-emitted in the visible blue-violet range, counteracting the yellowish tinge.
Suggested loadings
Lightfastness

The light fastness of Threetex depends on the resin system in which it is used and the loading. On a scale of 1 - 8 (8 being highest), Threetex in HD polyethylene would be rated 2 - 4, in PVC 4 - 7 and in polypropylene 1 - 4.

Physical form

The material is supplied in the form of a fine yellow powder with mean particle size around 20 µm.
